Founded in 2002, Volusia Dance Theatre is West Volusia's only non-profit dance performance company.  VDT provides extensive and thorough
pre-professional dance training to students of all ages in all disciplines of dance.

Volusia Dance Theatre strives to give students many performance opportunities throughout the year.  Students learn many different pieces of choreography to perform at local venues such as the DeLand Fall Festival of the Arts, the Youth Celebration of the Arts, the Central Florida Dance Festival and the Evening of Dance at Lake Eola.  Our repertoire includes excerpts from classical ballets such as Les Sylphide, La Bayadére, Don Quixote, Swan Lake, Coppeliá  and Paquita in addition to many original contemporary pieces.

Volusia Dance Theatre holds open auditions every June for their full-length production of The Nutcracker  performed every holiday season at local theatres including the DeLand High School Performing Arts Auditorium and now the University High School Auditorium.  VDT is the only dance company in West Volusia County to perform this full-length classical ballet.
